Bromelain, the digestive enzyme naturally contained in pineapple, has been studied for its therapeutic effects on the body. It has a long “…history of safe use and lack of side effects…”(1), according to one review, to support digestion. This super enzyme is absorbed in the intestines and in one study on professional boxers, bromelain was shown to potentially help in healing bruise injuries to the face and “…hematomas of the orbits, lips, ears, chest, and arms in four days” (1, 2).

  1. Place everything into your blender and mix until creamy. This makes a very thick smoothie, so use your blender tamper to mix the smoothie while it’s running. If you don’t have a tamper, add a touch more liquid to the blender.
  2. Pour into two bowls and top with any fruit or granola you’d like!
